THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Santa Fe East Restaurant Review:

Once the must destination for anyone in love with New Mexican cooking, the Santa Fe East has become somewhat more obscure since the departure of well-known chef Alison Swope a few years ago. However, just because crowds may have thinned a bit doesn’t mean chef Manuel Barahona’s cooking doesn’t have sparkle. The duck dishes are excellent and we adore such dishes as the green chile stew and the chipotle chicken entrée, a classic of fine almost-hot flavors enveloping a chicken breast. Other good choices are the chile relleno stuffed with goat cheese, the duckling smoked in green tea leaves with a black mole sauce, and the lamb chops smoked in hickory wood. This is food you won’t find elsewhere and you will know why once you savor the flavors and textures. Save room for the Mexican chocolate cake. The décor is classic New Mexican, and if you are a Westerner, you’ll feel very much at home here.
