Originally started as a wholesale business in 1939 by brothers Jack and Frank DeLuca, this national company eventually relocated to this hybrid market/café space. Inside, it's brightly lit and incorporates a subtle San Francisco-style. A round deli case loaded with several varieties of raw fish, oysters and shellfish greets guests upon entering, with an attached grocery area of seafood-related products, wine and cheese to the left, and a café and oyster bar to the right. At the four-seat oyster bar, try the Mediterranean-style black mussels, fragrant with garlic, and with enough tomato and white wine broth to make use of the accompanying buttery, grilled ciabatta. Crab cakes are dense with plenty of crab meat, and Alaskan halibut is cooked medium and served atop baby broccoli. Oysters on the half shell change frequently based on season and availability. A succinct wine list of seafood-friendly whites provides complementary pairings.
