L.A.-based restaurateur Adam Fleischman has opened a 10th Umami Burger, this one in Ventura County. Located at The Lakes of Thousand Oaks, the eatery boasts a cavernous modern interior and a patio overlooking the lawns and ponds of the immaculate upmarket shopping center. A second version of the popular Blue Owl Café has opened just off State Street. Unlike its late-night-only sister, The Blue Owl at Zen Yai, this one serves breakfast and lunch. Top-quality ingredients and creativity (think bacon and egg salad with truffle oil vinaigrette) make it a welcome addition to Downtown Santa Barbara. Blue Owl Café, 5 W. Summer Pass Provides Specially-Priced Wine Tastings
The Santa Ynez Valley Wine Country Association is offering a specially priced passport to its tasting rooms. Enjoy wine tastings at each of the 11 wineries for just $35 online (a $110 value) through August 30. You choose the dates; no reservations are required. The summer pass will expire on August 30, 2012, or when you've tasted at all 11 wineries.

Live and Local at Root 246
