A food and wine trio dubbed The Anacapa Project is poised to open in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone, a burgeoning arts district where recently there's been an upswing in wine and food. The Lark will be a full-service restaurant; Lucky Penny will focus on takeout fare (think artisan baked goods and wood-fired pizzas); and Caveau Wine Bar & Merchant will round out the trio with wine tasting and wine-friendly nibbles. Finch & Fork now open at the Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara

Billed as a modern American bar and grill with a local focus, Finch & Fork has replaced Coast as the restaurant of Santa Barbara's Canary Hotel. Finch & Fork, Canary Hotel, 31 W. Carrillo St., Santa Barbara, CA 93101, 805-879-9100.

Chef Lica Sfredo has brought Brazilian health food to downtown Santa Barbara. His Brasil Arts Café offers hearty feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew), fresh juices, acai smoothies and more to match the Capoeira classes and Samba lessons taught on site. Seven Bar & Kitchen has opened in the former location of The Pub at 224 Helena Street in the Funk Zone of Santa Barbara. Sliders, skewers, salads, sandwiches and comfort food combos like mac and cheese and chicken and waffles comprise the menu, though the spotlight shines brightest on cocktails. A side-by-side pair of food and drink establishments is poised to open on Main Street in downtown Ventura. Grapes and Hops will offer a retail section with wine products in addition to wine tastings, beers and small plates. Next door, Saloon BBQ Co. will focus on barbecue and creative cocktails.
