Elements has expanded into catering, welcoming Cynthia Miranda, who is well known around Santa Barbara for her culinary skills. Miranda was most recently co-owner of Mondial Catering and previously director of catering for the Wine Cask. Elements, 129 E. Anapamu St., Santa Barbara, CA 93101, 805-884-9218.
Chef-owner Serge Bonnet prepares five-course prix-fixe menus every Wednesday and Thursday night at his Café Provençal restaurant in Thousand Oaks. Soup or salad precede meat and fish dishes, which may include escolar with potato spinach cake and carrot sauce or pork tenderloin in an apple balsamic reduction. Cost, including three wines, is $45. Café Buenos Aires now plays up its South American theme even more, offering a Thursday night dance show with Argentine folk music, typical gaucho-style dancing and a four-course menu that includes, of course, grilled meats and a glass of wine. Arts and Letters Café, located in one of Santa Barbara's most romantic courtyards, now offers dinner service. Chef Erick Simmons has created a new menu and expanded wine list, which will be available Wednesday through Sunday. In addition to soups, salads and sandwiches, look for entrées such as wild salmon, roasted rack of berkshire pork and grilled flat iron steak with panzanella salad. Arts and Letters Café, 7 E. Enterprise Fish Co. has reintroduced their late-night happy hour. From 9 p.m.-11 p.m. on Thursdays, "LIVE @ Enterprise" will spotlight local bands and local food, such as Santa Barbara spiny lobster and white sea bass. Enterprise Fish Co., 225 State St., Santa Barbara, CA 93101, 805-962-3313.
