In the fight for purity, it’s sometimes overlooked that organic food includes meat and, therefore, is not just for vegetarians. From the same owners as the excellent Camden Brasserie upstairs (see above), Sauce features dishes like saffron lamb with peppers and onions over polenta (£10.95), rib-eye steak with braised shallots (£11.50) and farm pork sausages (£8.95). The vegetarian selections include sesame-glazed tofu with stir-fried vegetables and brown rice (£8.50), burger with lentils, nuts and seeds (£6.50) and salads with a topping of your choice. The children have their own menu and the restaurant even stocks Baby Organics brand baby food. The drink list includes organic wines, beers and freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices. If you don’t want to go wholly healthy there are nonorganic cocktails.
