Indian cuisine often suffers from its weight: heavy and hearty. But health-conscious, light Indian food? Yes, please. Enter Savoury. This Upper West Side eatery serves grease-free fare that will leave a smile on your face. Start with the scallops, which are nicely cooked and have a caramelized flavor and texture on the bottom; crispy cauliflower, wading in a tangy and garlicky tomato sauce, is also a delight. Entrées range from the usual tandoor and vindaloo dishes, but there are also some very good and unusual offerings, such as the spicy Kerala pepper chicken and the dalcha machchi, cubes of salmon in a turmeric and curry sauce. Wine is reasonably priced and desserts include fig ice cream.
