Scampo Restaurant Review:

Scampo features Italian-inspired cuisine that often draws from Mediterranean and Middle East flavors. The contemporary dining room features shiny copper lamps and a mozzarella bar, which is a fine place to start; options include simple vine ripe tomatoes and basil, or kicked-up items with king crab, cocktail avocado and green mustard oil. Among the must-haves are the white clam and bacon pizza and Lydia Shire’s famous lobster pizza. Order a pitcher of sangría to go with whichever you choose. Another highlight is the “ultimate” grilled lamb sirloin souvlaki with split peas and french-fried curly parsley. The Friday and Saturday night special of suckling pig al forno and baby lamb al forno draws in regulars. Uncommon sides include everything from soft polenta with chive butter to duck fat fries with truffle aïoli. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with warm chocolate chip cookies and a cold glass of milk. After the hotel's swanky Fashionably Late fashion show series on Thursday evenings, Scampo gets especially crowded.
