Scoozi Restaurant Review

: In the South End, this would be just another pizza place with pricey pies and fancy salads. But for Newbury Street, the food is surprisingly well-crafted, the scene is hip, and the location is ideal for some serious people-watching. Servers circulate in baby tees and born shoppers sashay past the patio, so come for a bite and stay for the social scene. Only beer and wine are available, but the popular sangría seems to flow freely at most tables. Salads include a caprese, Niçoise and hearts of palm. Italian-style chicken salad has roasted red peppers, tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette atop a fresh bed of arugula. Pizza is available by the pie (think chicken pesto, Greek or prosciutto) or slice (cheese, pepperoni or the flavor of the day). Calzones like the Italiano stuffed with three cheeses, salami and prosciutto; Swiss burgers; and crisp panini are popular with the lunch crowd. But when the sun goes down appetites turn towards heartier fare --- steak frites, bourbon-marinated turkey tips and chicken risotto in a white wine sauce. Finish your meal with creamy espresso-soaked tiramisu or warm apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Also located at 580 Commonwealth Ave., 617-536-7777.
