THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Scylla Restaurant Review:

Chef-owner Stephanie Izard has put together a tidy and terrific restaurant, one that has a sense of self. Scylla was the nymph turned sea monster in Greek mythology that terrorized mariners along a channel in the Mediterranean. From that springboard we splash into quite a seafood catch, and all is quite good. Appetizers include a topnotch grilled baby octopus salad with white beans, arugula and fresh mint, and a bouillabaisse that is lush and aromatic. Entrées range from grilled pork tenderloin with house bacon, ramps, haricots verts, raspberry and salsa Genovese to seared diver scallops with Serrano ham, white asparagus, goat cheese-Yukon pureé and pine nuts with sorrel vinaigrette. The menu is short but sweet. Desserts include ricotta fritters with cherry-maple sauce and allspice ice cream and a pecan-date cake with kumquat-mascarpone glaze, kumquats and espresso ice cream.
