SeaLegs Wine Bar, Huntington Beach, CA

SeaLegs Wine Bar Restaurant Review

: Inconspicuously located in a strip mall a city block away from the ocean, this charming venue captures the spirit of Surf City without succumbing to its downtown frat boy culture. The breezy, subtly nautical interior is filled with the energy of people dropping by to enjoy a selection from the impressive wine list, which is packed with boutique labels culled from the Pacific Coast. SeaLegs’ dedication to cuisine is just as important, and executive chef Alexander Dale’s contemporary share plates do a nice job of complementing the wines. Simple-sounding dishes like the caprese salad with grilled ricotta salata, bruschetta made with house-baked baguette, and fresh house-cut fries smothered in a trio of cheeses contain complex flavors. Heartier fare like the charred filet medallions with pickled onions further showcases Dale’s skill in achieving harmony within a dish’s composition. And desserts like the bananas Foster french toast featuring house-made brioche demonstrate the eatery is equipped to handle guests that are merely looking to pair their wine with a sweet treat.
