Openings

Cupcake lovers in Capitol Hill will be smiling and licking frosting from their fingers next month when the Cupcake Royale bakery opens another storefront at 111 East Pike Street. The new location, three times the size of the original Cupcake Royale in Ballard, will offer the same luscious baked goods. Other locations are in West Seattle and Madrona. Cupcake Royale, 111 E. Ponti, the sophisticated restaurant settled along the Ship Canal in Fremont, has turned its bar and lounge into a casual café. Offering an inexpensive alternative to the more formal dining room, the menu features casual bites and appetizers. Café Ponti opens at 4 p.m. daily and serves until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Long Providential Vietnamese Restaurant, from the same folks at the widly popular International District’s Tamarind Tree, recently opened in Belltown. Specializing in provincial Vietnamese cuisine, the new uptown restaurant serves  an impressive menu, including many Tamarind Tree favorites. Chow Foods Splits Up
Peter Levy and Jeremy Hardy, the partners behind the highly successful, 20-year-old chain of distinctive neighborhood restaurants, have divided up their mini empire. Levy is keeping the Chow Foods name along with The Hi-Life, Endolyne Joe's, Atlas Foods and The 5 Spot. Hardy, with a new company called Seattle-Eats, now exclusively owns Coastal Kitchen and Mioposto. na.
 
Perché No Reopens After Fire

Chef Shuffle

Keith Luce, who took over in 2007 as executive chef at The Herbfarm from Jerry Traunfeld, has announced he will be leaving the legendary restaurant. Lisa Nakamura, formerly of bin vivant in Kirkland, has been tapped to be the new sous chef. Is there a promotion in her future? Brian Hutmacher, owner of Peso’s Kitchen & Lounge in Queen Ann, has tapped Eric Donnelly, executive chef at The Oceanaire Seafood Room, for his soon-to-open restaurant, Toulouse. Located next door to his hip Mexican restaurant, Peso’s, the new venture will feature New Orleans-style French Quarter food and Big Easy ambiance.
