It’s all about the taco at this Mexico City-style East Village restaurant. Chef Danny Mena, who also mans the stove at Hecho en Dumbo, takes inspiration from his days living in the Mexican capital to create some addictive delights. There are bursting-with-flavor chorizo and juicy al pastor tacos. But do yourself a favor and get a “costra”: caramelized cheese acts as a tortilla, and the toppings are the same as those on the taco menu; the cheese creates added flavor and it’s so good you’ll wonder why this idea hasn’t taken off at other taquerias in the city. Wash it all down with a mezcal margarita or three.
