Seoul is tucked away in a nondescript plaza, but everything it lacks in curb appeal it makes up for with its encyclopedic fusion menu, generous portions and happening atmosphere. Meats sizzled right at your table --- tender soy-marinated bulgogi beef or pork collar swimming in zingy red chili sauce --- are naturally a favorite, and before your server ignites the cooking surface, a rainbow of banchan, or side dishes, arrives to awaken your palate. Crisp, light Hite beer brewed in South Korea pairs well with the spiciness of kimchi and the tangy sweetness of soybeans. Also try steaming pots of soup or stew, bi bim bap rice bowls, and cold and stir-fried noodle concoctions. Order saké and detour to Japan: Seoul's chefs also turn out credible sushi, udon noodle soups and teriyaki and tempura dishes. The pumpkin dessert beverage is an acquired taste, but give it a sip, since it's on the house.
