| Part grocery store and part restaurant, Sermmith claims it serves the most authentic Thai food in town. And that may well be, for its menu stars dishes that trendier restaurants might shun. Take, for example, the Thai beef jerky served with a chili sauce, or the strips of barbecued pork with its own hot dipping sauce. We also recommend the kitchen's rendition of the popular street food hoy tod, a stir-fry of battered mussels topped with bean sprouts. Of course, customers can always order such standbys as the pad thai noodles, squares of fried tofu, or the glass-noodle salad. But this frankly no-frills place gives people the chance to eat in the classic Thai tradition. Note: The kitchen also sets out entrée choices in its steam table for those who want to eat cafeteria-style. |
