Shaky Alibi Restaurant Review: Owner R.J. Milano operates this European-style café and waffle bar, which has become an unexpected hit in the neighborhood. Inspired by his German-born great-grandmother, Milano turns out Belgian liège waffles made with yeast dough instead of batter and coated with Belgian pearl sugar. They are absolutely addictive, and we like them with spéculoos cream (made from sweet biscuits), chocolate spread or fruit for an indulgent snack. For savory lunches, ham, turkey and cheese is inserted between two halves of a waffle. The coffees are ground and brewed to order, and drinking chocolate---so thick you can eat it with a spoon---can be topped with whipped cream or organic ice cream. The brick-clad place is hip, with abstract art, colorful walls, a long coffee-waffle bar and a wall of candles.
