| Located in a modest strip mall, this spot is a scaled-down version of its Shanghai Garden cousins in Seattle's International District and in Issaquah. The kitchen here is in the capable hands of Hua Te Su’s brother, chef-owner Ping-Fu Su. Like the Su family's other restaurants, the café is painted bright pink and features a cold-case displaying Northern Chinese-style vegetarian appetizers; try the chili-spiked cucumbers. The menu will be familiar to aficionados of Chinese restaurants, with barley-green pot stickers; stubby, hand-shaved noodles stir-fried with bits of chicken, egg, squid and whole prawns; sautéed sugar pea vines; and sliced fish with yellow leeks. Brown rice is available, the tea is free and free-flowing, and the prices won’t dent the wallet. |
