Marinated, spit-roasted beef and lamb stuffed into a pita or served on a platter constitute the namesake, but there’s much more on offer, including a slice of lamb meat pie made with onion, tomato and lemon juice. Traditional falafel, grape leaves and hummus topped with ground lamb are also available, but dig deeper and discover real finds like chicken kebabs with garlic. For dessert, try the rich baklava triangle, sweet macaroons and creamy milk rice pudding topped with cinnamon.
