Shaw's Crab House Restaurant Review

: On one side of the restaurant, there's a fancy main dining room with white linen tablecloths and dim lighting; on the other, a more relaxed oyster bar with a diner-like feel that's complete with high-seated stools and wooden booths lining the walls. No matter which area you choose, there's plenty of sustainable seafood to go around. From crispy calamari and tuna tartare to salmon, grouper, oysters Rockefeller, scallops and Maine lobster, no ocean fare is overlooked. Saké pairs well with the sushi, and Shaw's specialty, Alaskan king crab legs in drawn butter, is always a favorite. Southern pecan pie with bittersweet ganache and homemade whipped cream completes any meal. Oysters are half-price daily from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., and live music is performed Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday in the oyster bar. The weekend brunch buffet boasts a litany of temptations, from bananas foster french toast to create-your-own omelets to crab legs to roasted beef tenderloin. Also located at 1900 E. Best Seafood Restaurant in Chicago

On Saturday, July 25 of 2009 my wife and I dined at Shaw’s Crab House. It was fantastic! We have eaten out at a lot of restaurants, and we can honestly say that Shaw’s still has it going on. It is at the top of our list for consistent, quality seafood and shellfish. The food is always prepared right, with great service, and the dining room is comfortable, where you can relax and enjoy your meal. We started with the one dozen, hand-shucked oyster assortment appetizer and their famous jumbo-lump crabmeat crab cake. We followed that with their wonderful lobster bisque and split an order of their steamed Alaskan King Crab legs with a side of melted butter. Next, we ate three delicious soft shell crabs sautéed in lemon, garlic, and butter, with great vegetable sides. For dessert we had key lime pie and Homers Peppermint Ice Cream with hot fudge sauce. Hot coffee drinks and specialty tea topped it all off, and we were very happy with the overall experience. Shaw’s has the seafood dining experience down to a perfect science. We highly recommend it!
