THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sheridan Square Restaurant Review:

Set in a long-vacant space on Seventh Avenue and W. 10th Street, Sheridan Square had its share of problems early on. First opened in 2007 under the name Market Kitchen, the eatery lasted a month before shutting down and reopening with a different chef and its current name. But Gary Robins, formerly at The Biltmore Room, didn’t last long. Now Franklin Becker is manning the cherry wood fire pit at the back of the restaurant and managing the kitchen like he’d been there for years. The New American menu is studded with standout dishes. The foie gras torchon is smooth and explosive with flavor while the grilled squid achieves a nice balance of natural essence and tastes of the grill on which it's cooked. The pan-roasted sea scallops, paired with a vegetable medley, meld nicely with the liquid run-off of veggies while the flavor of the thick Berkshire pork chop is elevated by the accompanying black cherry-Pommery sauce. The spacious room, with soaring pressed-tin ceilings and cozy leather booths, is only marred by the playing of bad soft rock music.
