Shin Jung Restaurant Review:
It's far from fancy, looking rather like a diner, but Shin Jung, located in a busy Korean mini-mall, is a workhorse and local favorite. In a large pot of boiling water at the center of the table, guests can dunk thin slices of pork, crab, duck, chicken or lobster, cooking these proteins almost immediately for a very fresh and tender consistency. Rib-eye steak is usually the most popular item, offering a buttery flavor. Ingredients like tofu, seaweed, onions, carrots and shiitake mushrooms are served alongside the proteins to enhance the experience. Lunch specials offer rice and bulgogi in a stone pot, ox bone soup, and hand-rolled noodles with kimchi. Though wine and saké are available, beer is a favored accompaniment for its crisp, dry quality.
