THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Shoebox Cafe Restaurant Review:
Located in the corner of Grand Central Terminals expansive food court, this little Southern café has about as much room as a shoebox, but is, in fact, named for the Southern tradition of packing food in them. There is a menu of tempting sandwiches like a bourbon-praline ham sandwich and a fried oyster and green tomato lowboy roll as well as a roster of traditional shoebox lunches like Southern-fried chicken and mustard barbecued shrimp accompanied by delectable sides like crispy okra and Creole-style potato salad. At night, when the takeout biz dies down, the space is transformed into a cozy, intimate spot with a full bar.
