THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Shokolaat Restaurant Review:

Shokolaat represents some appealing aspects of Peninsula dining, with its comfortably sleek interior and an enclosed heated patio. Owners Shekoh Moossavi and Mark Ainsworth, who made a name for themselves with their former venture Restaurant Gervais in Saratoga, have put together a menu that showcases Moossavi's seasonal California bistro cuisine and Ainsworth's sweets. Dinner offerings hew close to comfort food. A veal chop served with morels and puréed potatoes proved succulent, but an olive and brioche crusted cod arrived overcooked. An opener of split pea and mint soup, poured at the table, skimped on the mint but was dotted with toothsome cubes of pork belly. If entrées are uneven, desserts shine: a choice of soufflé---Grand Marnier or bittersweet chocolate and dark rum---ends dinner on a luxurious note, and a glass case full of artisan chocolates made with Valrhona cocoa is fun to explore. Service is punctual and knowledgeable. A "Pitchers on the Patio" happy hour offers 32-ounce cocktail pitchers, and weekend brunch showcases Ainsworth's fine pâtisseries as well as heartier choices.
