THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sholl's Colonial Cafeteria Restaurant Review:
This is one Washington restaurant that stands alone. It has survived downtown rent hikes, the influx of high-profile restaurants, and the invasion of fast-food chains and eateries. Its the one place in Washington where everyone is welcome---the homeless and the highbrow, the downtrodden and the yuppie. The dishes resemble those cooked in homes a generation ago: comfort food, and plenty of it. Everything is served caféteria-style. The menu changes frequently, but those who eat here dont care, because they come for the TLC and the rock-bottom prices. The roast chicken is tender and savory, the mashed potatoes creamy and the banana cream pie textured with banana slices---what more can anyone ask for? Its a Washington institution (its been serving meals for more than 70 years) well deserving of its status.
