The Shore, located in the middle of San Clemente’s main drag, taps into the coastal community’s seaside vibe by mixing a sleekly dark interior with freewheeling jazz music and views of the bustling road. Indulge in one of the handcrafted cocktails, which emphasize fresh ingredients and juices, along with a touch of creative whimsy. Executive chef Simon Garcia follows suit by creating an intriguing menu of kicked-up classic American cuisine. The “small bites” items are all about comfort food, from the crispy fried mac ‘n’ cheese balls to the fries covered in cheese and hot wing sauce. Things get more complex in the second course, with offerings like the Bella chicken salad featuring roasted potatoes, asparagus, basil and pesto vinaigrette. Entrées, such as shrimp and grits served with andouille sausage, maximize the interplay between flavors. Cap off your meal with a slice of the nicely balanced banana pie.
