Siamese Restaurant Review:
From the outside, Siamese looks like a plain storefront, but inside the dining room fairly glows, as table covers shimmer with gold embroidery and clusters of greenery accent the uncluttered space. The New Orleans metro area offers only a few decent Thai restaurants, and this long-operating establishment represents the cuisine well. Especially commendable are the Thai curries, particularly the massaman curry with chicken; pad thai served in a generous portion, showing just the right spring to the noodles and crisp vegetables; well-seasoned meat-stuffed chicken wings; spicy-sour seafood soup; roasted duck salad; and pad kee mao, a wide-noodle dish brightened by Thai basil and red chili peppers. Gluten-free and vegan dishes are abundant. Desserts are limited, but the coconut ice cream is a sweet, refreshing meal-ender. Cocktails, a few Thai beers, and a very limited wine list, in addition to teas, make up the beverages.
