Kerry Simon's restaurant at Palms Place, the boutique tower of the Palms Casino, is designed to look simultaneously modern and natural. Panoramic windows overlook the exclusive Palms Place pool and the Red Rock Mountains, while inside clean metal lines mix with the textures of natural fibers and curves of wood and bamboo, all eco-friendly and sustainable materials. A greenhouse wall within the restaurant allows the chefs ready access to herbs and microgreens. Simon himself subscribes to healthy living, which is reflected in the menu with such items as sushi and a simple raw salad of organic vegetables and a fruity olive oil and lime dressing. But there are still elements of fun, apparent in a hearty turkey Reuben, the grilled cheese sandwiches and a decadent beef carpaccio pizza. Desserts will make you feel like a kid again: the "junk food platter" is chock full of sugary treats such as "Hostess" cupcakes, chocolate caramel popcorn, Rice Krispies treats and a milkshake. The restaurant also features the country's largest collection of small-bottle sakés and a selection of organic wines.
