Located aboard the historic Queen Mary, moored in Long Beach Harbor, Sir Winston’s is one of the more formal dining venues in the South Bay, popular for special occasions or entertaining visitors from out of town. From your comfortable armchair at a white linen-topped table, you’ll enjoy views of Long Beach’s revitalized downtown skyline, adding a touch of romance. There are a lot of elegant retro dishes on the menu that suit the clubby, Art Deco design of the restaurant, such as escargots and lobster bisque. These old-school items are joined with contemporary bites like braised pork belly with apple chutney. The continental theme still dominates the entrée selections, as evidenced by mains like Châteaubriand for two with red onion marmalade and béarnaise, rack of lamb, or a satisfying beef Wellington in truffle sauce. Seafood includes sea scallops with truffle cauliflower purée and sea trout almondine with haricots verts and farro pilaf. Though there are other desserts to consider, this place invites going for a chocolate or Grand Marnier soufflé. The wine list is not exhaustive but has many worthy vintages from respected old-world and new-world producers.
