THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sirloin Burger Restaurant Review:

Not much to look at, and in a somewhat careworn neighborhood, Sirloin Burger has since the 1950s been quietly serving some of the juiciest, messiest, most flavorful burgers in town. One of the secrets behind their successful specialty is the fact that they grind their own meat daily on the premises, also using it in a spaghetti sauce that has fans among some regulars. But we always go for their generous double burgers, two patties sizzled on a griddle, topped with griddle-fried chopped onions (we always ask for extra), slathered with Thousand Island dressing and served on a soft bun that grows gloriously soggy with all those juices. Along with each burger, they also slip into its grease-paper envelope a crisp, garlicky dill pickle spear worthy of an authentic deli, and we routinely ask for extra. Add a big tangle of fries and a soft drink and you have a satisfying fast lunch (even if you take your lunch at 9 a.m., when they open), a fact that has led to our seeing an eclectic array of folks standing in line here, from day laborers to Hollywood shakers, young families to an entire National Guard platoon. While you wait for your order, try to decipher the arcane order-taking system, which involves small ceramic tiles.
