| Tucked into lower Queen Anne, this small neighborhood bar and bistro is appropriate for before or after attending the theatre, ballet or opera in nearby Seattle Center. Although dark, the intimate setting is a welcome change from today's sleek, hard-edged drinking establishments. Oenophiles will enjoy the emphasis on French vintages---both red and white---with about 15 pours by the glass to accompany the bottle offerings. Creative cocktails are also an option, along with apéritifs. Although there is no dinner menu, a small selection of salads, pork pâté, daily soups, caponata or charcuterie make it possible to create a satisfying meal. Our favorite, baguette slices topped with Gorgonzola, fig jam and prosciutto, pairs well with a Sparkling Ruby cocktail (Champagne, grapefruit juice and Campari). Located next to On the Boards theatre, it's about a ten-minute walk to Seattle Center's theaters or McCaw Hall. Allow time for the walk and for less than speedy service. |
