Slate Wine Bar + Bistro Restaurant Review:

This spunky little place on Wisconsin Avenue offers a full-on cocktail and wine menu for the happy hour crowd, plus all those who crave libations throughout the day. Even at lunchtime, patrons can spot folks at the bar, chatting with the bartender while they sip their brews. But for the teetotalers, the big draw is the rather interesting menu, which is a blend of various cuisines, from Latin (chicken and bacon tacos) to Italian (burrata with olive oil), and Chinese (duck breast egg rolls) and good old American with the Slate burger with Angus beef. That’s for lunch, but the dinnertime menu gets notched up with entrées of fried mussels; pan-seared salmon barigoule with artichoke hearts and carrots; and chicken Cordon Bleu. Brunch features several classic breakfast dishes, such as chicken and waffles, vanilla french toast, and a few variations of egg Benedicts, and breakfast cocktails.
