This laid-back restaurant and its cult following have made their way to South Orange County, giving the Lake Forest neighborhood another dining option that isn’t a national chain. Like the Anaheim Hills and Huntington Beach locations, this outpost is adorned with kitschy photos, HDTVs blasting sporting events, and a long bar serving up spirits and more than 100 beers on tap, including several Orange County craft brews. Load up on comfort food appetizers like fried pickles and the tasty roasted garlic, cheese and artichoke “vampire dip,” before ordering up a salad, sandwich or a burger. While the mix-and-match possibilities give you a seemingly infinite amount of burger choices, including some featuring the signature half beef/half bacon “50/50” patty, several pre-arranged selections are available, most notably the unorthodox yet tasty peanut butter and jelly burger. While the generously portioned dishes have the potential to leave you stuffed, the desserts, like the indulgent bacon brownie, is worth saving some room for at meal’s end. And those with gluten allergies will be interested to find out that the venue has an extensive selection of gluten-free options.
