THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Sofrito Restaurant Review:
This East Side eatery fits all of the energy of Puerto Rico into one restaurant, creating a non-stop party. A long bar, complete with colorful backlighting, and a dining room where almost-nightly live music takes place set the stage for a night of clapping and, inevitably, a birthday celebration about every 20 minutes. The food almost takes a back seat to the scene. Fortunately, your taste buds can party too. Start with the flaky empanadas, of which the subtly spicy beef version is the best. Appetizer portions are substantial, but why stop with the starters when there are meaty entrées like tender roast pork or a hearty shredded beef stew? We also recommend the shrimp in a white wine-garlic sauce, and all the seafood dishes, including the saffron-laced seafood stew.
