This Indian brasserie, perfectly suited to its location, is radically different from the old-fashioned curry houses with their dreary décor, mercifully subdued music, unmercifully grim service and predictable menus. Here, bright young customers and appropriately noisy music complement zingy colours in both décor and the uniforms of staff whose professionalism includes smiles served along with the food. Since the takeover by the Mela-Chowki group, the long menus have livened up as well. Try the great kebabs, served with dal, rice and naan, which costing around £12 make a meal in themselves.
