This is an especially good place to go when the Chicago weather has you down, as chef Carol Wallack’s North Center pad is a bit beach-reminiscent. In kind, the menu---a seasonal mélange of Californian-, Asian- and Hawaiian-inspired fare---will transport you someplace balmy. Settle in, while its presiding, self-professed surfer serves up artichoke fritters with zippy soy-lime and sweet honey-white truffle sauces; roasted beet and pineapple salad with yuzu vinaigrette; and barramundi with lemon grass butter. Don’t miss the truffle-Parmesan fries either---or the assortment of house cookies. The wine list is extensive and largely affordable. Curbside carryout makes eating on the fly a cinch.
