Sono Wood Fired Restaurant Review: Nearby condo dwellers have their mid-week pizza fix and date night destination in one, thanks to this coal- and wood-fire pizza and Italian small-plates concept. The space is crisp yet comfortable, with saffron walls, high ceilings and dangling pendant lights. Meanwhile, “Sono,” in the vein of SoHo, stands for “south of North Avenue.” Chefs toil at an open-air station, producing sixteen varieties of steaming pizza --- we like the soppressata diavola’s medley of spicy soppressata, charred onions, basil and fior di latte mozzarella --- from an oven straight out of Italy. Artisanal bruschetta shares the spotlight, thanks to combos like fragrant Gorgonzola dolce and onion mostarda. Not to be overlooked is the caprese salad with seasonal tomatoes and creamy fior di latte mozzarella.
