Sonoma Wine Garden Restaurant Review: When it’s time to have a bite---along with the sights of the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Pier---a good option would be Sonoma Wine Garden. Tucked into the western corner of the fifth floor of the Santa Monica Place, Sonoma Wine Garden has an eclectic blend of options to enjoy the view, including couches for lounging, tables for dining, and an open-air bar to savor one of two dozen wines by the glass. Start with warmed, buttery Castelvetrano olives, a formidable choice of artisan cheeses and charcuterie, or an array of Luna and Miyagi oysters from the raw bar. A limited but good selection of pizzas is available, like the garden version, which is topped with maitake mushrooms, ricotta, arugula and white truffle oil. Main courses include an organic roast chicken on root vegetables; grilled shrimp and grits with bacon, kale and white cheddar; and braised short rib stew with paprika and herb spätzle. Brunch is also available on the weekends, and includes build-your-own Bloody Marys and bottomless mimosas.
