THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sonsie Restaurant Review:
Sonsie, translated from the Old French, means "lucky, comely," and of women and children, "chubby" and "cheerful." The pleasant little bistro beside the sea in Atlantic City offers a menu that is chockablock with appealing selections. For breakfast, how does jumbo lump crab cake eggs Benedict sound? For lunch, try a delicate quiche with a field green salad. And at dinner, struggle with the decision between dishes such as crispy prosciutto-wrapped salmon with sweet potato gnocchi or veal osso buco with white corn jalapeño cakes and roasted onions. There are a lot of choices in between when just a little something will do: Parmesan truffle fries, mini New England lobster rolls, or individual brick-oven pizzas with sophisticated toppings such as smoked salmon with lemon crème fraîche, red onions and chives. The dessert menu is equally as intriguing with temptations of silky white chocolate banana cheesecake with a brûléed banana ice cream float, or apple and quince cobbler with sun-dried Morello cherries and cinnamon ice cream. Although Sonsie is located on the top level of a busy casino complex, it offers a pleasant little sidewalk café experience with rattan chairs and cozy tables. But make no mistake, the food is serious and the wine list (300 bottles strong) well worth exploring.
