It’s Cleveland Park’s hot nightspot, a gathering place for neighbors craving pizzas and edgy pastas made to traditional standards. Family-owned and -operated, Sorriso’s claim to fame is its authentic cooking as displayed in a rather lengthy menu. If you are baffled by all the choices, ask your server for some guidance; you’ll learn the favorites and hear about the daily specials. Share an appetizer---go for the fried calamari---a pizza in one of the numerous guises, and an entrée or pasta dish. We can recommend the tagliatelle with wild boar sausage ragù, but the gnocchi with Gorgonzola is a close second choice. Want something meatier? Consider any one of the secondi dishes, keeping an eye on the veal shank with risotto. And for dessert, while there are many options, the clear winner is the panna cotta, as silken as a quart of heavy cream.
