THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED South of France Restaurant Review:
With its warm woods and large fireplace, this is regarded by many Atlantans as one of the city's most romantic restaurants. The food is not inventive, relying instead on the fundamentals of home-style French cooking. Classic dishes include rich, creamy goose liver foie gras, snails with garlic butter, onion soup and a substantial house-made pâté. Entrées are substantial Provençal dishes like rabbit hunter style (with tomatoes and mushrooms), lamb and duck à l'orange or with peppercorn Cognac sauce. The wine list has taken major steps forward, finally adding a good rosé, for instance. A vocalist performs Wednesday through Saturday at dinner.
