The South Side Restaurant Review: Housed inside a nineteenth-century Tremont rehab, The South Side draws crowds with classy libations and inexpensive noshes. A large, green-swathed patio offers outdoor dining, while the interior boasts industrial, urban-chic styling with a serpentine granite bar. The menu features everything from chicken and waffles to barbecue duck pizza to bison and black bean chili. Start with the overstuffed potato skins bursting with cheese and bacon. Follow with the portobello gyro, but ditch the accompanying homemade potato chips and replace them with onion rings as big as your palm. If you’re tip-toeing through the entrée section, we suggest the grilled swordfish served atop red pepper and goat cheese risotto, or the four-cheese mac 'n' cheese. The beer list includes some good finds and wine selections are serviceable. Desserts are limited, but worth the calories. Opt for the s'mores crème brûlée or the chocolate cake.
