Southernmost Beach Cafe Restaurant Review: Set on the beach where playwright Tennessee Williams took his daily morning swim, this clean, comfortable and (weather permitting) open-air restaurant maximizes its setting. One of the few places to dine beachfront on the island, Southernmost Beach Cafe offers a good way to enjoy two of the pleasures of being in Key West --- the beautiful water and coastal cuisine. Associated with a group of hotels, this dining room has the ideal balanced menu. All three meals offer crowd-pleasing basics (fluffy french toast, a design-your-own-burger bar, surf ‘n’ turf) supplemented by specialties particular to the area (Key West pink shrimp omelet, blackened mahi BLT wrap, snapper topped with blackened shrimp). Even a simple appetizer (coconut shrimp, fried calamari or tuna tataki) with a cold beer or margarita at sunset makes for a souvenir of an experience. House-made Key lime pie with an Oreo crust will give you one more brag-worthy taste. |
