THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Spazio Restaurant Review

: Spazio’s second-story, glass-sheathed dining room has a smart, sexy look, with high-end design elements providing a sophisticated vibe for this combination restaurant-jazz club. Near a stage that hosts top jazz artists nightly is a marble-topped mahogany bar, illuminated by amber pendants hanging from an elegant coffered ceiling. Further from the stage, the dining room becomes a sea of white linen-topped tables. The menu tends to straddle the French-Italian border, so one can choose between escargots Bourgogne and burrata caprese for starters, or delve into more culturally diverse territory with tuna tartare plated with avocado tapenade and a wasabi-ponzu sauce. For entrées, diners tuck into the likes of herbed rack of lamb with a brandy-truffle sauce, sesame-seared ahi or one of several enticing pastas (e.g. squid ink spaghetti with seafood, penne with chicken and asparagus in chive pesto sauce, a ravioli assortment). Finales also blur the border, encompassing both French classics like chocolate soufflé or tarte Tatin and Italian favorites like tiramisu. However, the wine list obliterates all borders, as it explores much of Europe and the New World. A buffet brunch is offered on Sundays, with jazz, of course.
