 Laurent Katgely, owner of the romantic French restaurant Chez Spencer in San Francisco, often joked with the people working at the nearby El Tonayense Mexican taco truck that he’d buy a French taco truck and compete with them. After a few years of this, Katgely had a wild thought to actually do it, purchased a second-hand taco truck, and created Spencer on the Go. Along the way, he’s offered items that have likely never been seen on wheels before. Some have faded (frogs’ legs) while others have become unlikely top sellers (delicately fried puffs of escargot, a true standout), but all are certainly unique and worth sampling, particularly for those who might find the prices at Chez Spencer too prohibitive.
