THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Springside Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant Husband-and-wife team restaurateur Yassmin Sarmadi and chef Tony Esnault have turned the bar area at their downtown L.A. restaurant Spring into Springside. It’s a more intimate, bistro-style setting for weeknight dinners (Tues.-Sat.) and happy hour (Tues.-Fri. 5 p.m.-7 p.m.), featuring $1 oysters and deals on select snacks, wines by the glass and cocktails. (Meanwhile, the atrium at Spring hosts lunch Tuesday through Friday, as well as Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch.)

About the food: Inspired by the South of France, the menu presents classics (beef tartare, escargots) as well as seasonal dishes such as risotto with sweet corn, chanterelles, hen of the woods mushrooms and chives. The latter can be ordered à la carte or as part of the five-course tasting menu ($85, plus $46 for optional wine pairings). A three-course tasting menu ($49) is also available.
