| A daily menu of whatever’s freshest of the season characterizes the cuisine at Square Meal, a cozy sliver of a restaurant in the heart of Museum Mile. Upper East Siders have long enjoyed gourmet take-out from Yura on Madison, located just around the corner on Madison Avenue, also overseen by talented chef Yura Mohr. Sample starters include the “Napoleon” salad, an artistic presentation of lemon-dressed greens, almonds, chèvre and pear. Menu staples like the juicy five-ounce burger, accompanied by homemade ketchup and caramelized onions, and a maple-glazed pork chop are offered along with daily specials. Seafood fans are not forgotten, either---we ordered a second portion of the appetizer lobster crêpe to accompany Maryland crab cakes with only the tiniest hint of bread crumbs holding them together. And save room for dessert; Mohr’s bakery is well known. Square Meal offers a limited selection of wines by the glass. |
