| Just a bit off the tourist track, but worth discovering, is St. Stephen’s Green, a neighborhood gastropub that offers well-crafted soups, sandwiches and salads, such as the chef’s trademark Isabella’s salad of warm goat cheese, pine nuts, roasted peppers and portobello mushroom slices. The pub menu sets high standards for the grazing crowd, from a top-rate grilled turkey burrito spiked with chipotle mayo to the chicken and Serrano ham croquettes bathed in a mushroom cream sauce, Guinness-battered fish ‘n’ chips and lamb tacos. The dinner menu changes daily to reflect the seasons and the draft and bottled beer menu would make most liquor stores hang their heads in shame. This restaurant is the kind of budget-pleaser locals try to keep to themselves. |
