THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Stand Restaurant Review:

Jonathan Morr set off Asian noodle house hysteria when he opened Republic. But with Stand, he has officially thrown his 100-percent all-beef patty hat onto the hotly contested grill. The airy room, complete with long dark wooden tables and floor-to-ceiling photos of bygone burger eateries, makes Morr’s homage to the hamburger an ideal arena for sampling the ultimate American sandwich. The menu is refreshingly straightforward, ranging from a classic burger and a cheeseburger (with a choice of cheddar or blue cheese) to a mushroom burger and, perhaps the most creative on offer, a bacon and egg cheeseburger (which comes with a side of hard-boiled egg mayonnaise). If burgers aren’t your thing, the classic mac ‘n’ cheese is filling and homey. For desserts, the sticky caramel banana cake can’t be beat---except, maybe, by one of the transcendent milkshakes.
