| Perched bayside next to the historic boat Star of India, the restaurant's location is enough to draw patrons, but the seafood and staff have cinched its success. The menu continues to offer classic seafood such as oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail, crab claws and a full American sturgeon caviar service; but it also presents whimsical creations like liver and onions (seared foie gras, sweet onion tart, onion velouté and foie gras custard) and potato-and-beer bisque. Other first courses include sautéed white shrimp with butternut flan; spaghetti squash-and-pancetta hash; and salmon pastrami with mustard gelato and pickled apples. Fish is deftly prepared. We recommend the diver scallops with braised pork belly and the black trumpet-dusted ahi. In season, try the local lobster dégustation menu---from bisque to tempura to risotto and butter-poached tails. Meat-lovers can opt for the Kobe filet and vegetarians may choose from a range of entrées. For dessert, s'mores are comprised of peanut butter fudge, marshmallows, graham crackers, frozen bananas and pine nuts, all torched tableside and served with a banana milkshake. |
