Starlight Wine Bar & Restaurant Restaurant Review: This is a restaurant, inside a train, swallowed by a building. The single vintage train car feels bigger inside than one would imagine, perhaps an illusion made possible by the owners, former visual effects artists. It’s a swanky little ride, with leopard print carpet, big windows, a vineyard mural, and two lanes of tables running the car's length---high tops and stools on one side, low tops with red vinyl banquette on the other. You might see the chef, who hails from New Orleans, hanging out on the caboose between courses. His menu features some Big Easy classics such as feisty gumbo with andouille sausage, barbecued shrimp and chicken. Other dishes include chicken potpie or imaginative pizzas such as the artichoke, Serrano, egg, leek and wild mushroom on a challah-like crisp dough. Wine flights feature boutique local producers. Finish with home-spun desserts, particularly the individual apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. |
